Fitness Exercise - The Bodily Trinity - Strength

Health and fitness (as well as some of the related subjects, like weight loss,
dieting, exercise, sports, etc.) has more theories than practical answers and
more fads than fact. If you don’t believe me, just pick up a copy of a current
fitness magazine or book and you’ll read about competing theories that all
promise maximum results with little or ZERO effort.

Where as fitness the ability to meet the demands of physical task. People who are physically passive, face many health problems in the long run. Heart attack is the most common problem faced by lethargic people. Hence, fitness is important in many aspects of life. It is the key to good health, which affects how we live our life.

There are three main elements of fitness – Strength Training Exercise, Flexibility Training and Endurance Training Exercise. These three elements are combined in almost all fitness programmes, especially those that are designed to offer a balanced and healthy active lifestyle. Lets understand these three elements

Strength Training Exercise

Strength is the extent to which muscles can exert force by contracting against resistance (e.g. holding or restraining an object or person). Strength training training is any strength exercise that uses resistance – like weights – to strengthen and condition the musculo-skeletal system, thus improving muscle tone and endurance, and boosting lean body mass. Strength training exercise includes rowing, climbing stairs, as well as fitness exercises like pushups. “Strength training exercise ” is used as a general term synonymous with other common terms: “weightlifting exercise ” and “resistance training exercise.”

The Benefits of Strength Training Exercise

  • Strength training exercise increases our physical capacity. And by increasing the size and power of our muscles we can improve your physical and athletic performance.
  • Strength training exercise increases the body’s metabolic rate. This helps our body to burn more calories throughout the day.
  • Strength training exercise increases and restores Bone Density. Inactivity and aging can lead to a decrease in bone density and brittleness. Studies prove that consistent strength training can increase bone density and prevent Osteoporosis.
  • Strength training exercise increases Lean Muscle Mass, Physical Strength and Endurance. For example, adults who are sedentary will experience an annual half-pound loss of muscle and half-percent reduction in metabolic rate unless they begin some form of weight/strength or resistance training.
  • Strength Training exercise Helps Reduce Heart Disease Risk. Participation in a consistent strength-training program has a wide variety of affiliated health benefits including decreased cholesterol and lowered blood pressure.
  • Strength training exercise improves Quality of life. Strength training ensures we are strong enough to participate in aerobic activities, outdoor recreation, and sports. Stronger muscles and joints can have a dramatic impact on posture and leaner toned muscles tend to make everyone feel better about their appearance. This leads to improved self-esteem and self-confidence.
