Hair Cut Trends, Choosing a hairstyle
Hair Style Tips – Hair Cut Trends – Designed to suit
When choosing a new hairstyle, there are several guidelines to remember. The first, and the most obvious, is that the style must suit your face shape. There is little point in assuming that a certain cut will look the same on you as it does on a model in a magazine.
Your hair type will also have a considerable bearing on the style or cut that will work best for you. Fine, thin hair can rarely be successfully crafted into a smooth, bouncy bob. Coarse, wiry hair cannot be trained to form smooth waves.
As a rule, if you are tall and large in frame, you need a hairstyle that has volume and width to provide the perfect balance. A short crop can make you appear larger still. Tiny people, too, need to be aware of proportions. A huge shaggy mane can be overpowering on someone who is petite.

Long faces are accentuated by long straight hair that is swept back off the forehead. A soft fringe and volume at the sides will add width in the right places. Square faces need softening up, and gentle waves framing the face is ideal.
For round faces, short hair works best if it is directionally cut to provide height and angles. Avoid straight fringes-instead, use a gel to make feathery wisps at the front and the side.
Your hairdresser is the best person to advise you on style and cut. If you go to a new salon for a change of style, discuss the various possibilities with the hairdresser but don’t let them do whatever they want, if you are unhappy with the results you will be in agony waiting for your hair to grow.
If you have a particular complex about a certain facial feature-your nose, ears or your chin-don’t be afraid to mention these to your hairdresser.
Besides finding a style that suits your face shape, body frame and hair type, you must have a style that you can cope with easily at home. Any hairstyle that requires hours of fiddling should be avoided. You will end up wearing hats and scarves when you are short of time and your hair is a mess. Once you have found a competent and understanding hair dresser, stick with him or her and you will continue to get good results, whatever style and cut you eventually choose.
