The color match is probably the most important factor. You must check any potential purchase against your own hair tone in daylight. If your hair is very fine a hairpiece of thick coarse hair will look exactly like a hairpiece.

 

If you are after a fun, party look, try using brightly colored false highlights. These are fine strips of hair which are clipped down to your own, and partially covered with surrounding hair so that the hairpiece fixings are concealed.

 

All good hairpieces have a mesh base to which the hair is knotted strand by strand. That way it falls and moves exactly as natural hair does. A comb is attached to the base which secures the piece in place; an ordinary hair pin, placed under the comb, will hold it really steady.
