Makeup Foundation should be smoothed over the face with upward strokes, and should be applied on the throat and neck at the same time with upward strokes. Do not forget to apply foundation behind the ears.
Makeup Foundation is necessary to make the make-up long lasting and natural. You should buy two shades of foundation, one matching your skin and other, a bit dark. Now apply light coloured one on the parts which you want to make look more attractive and dark one on the parts which you want people not to notice. Manipulate both the shades in such a way that the lines, between these two cannot be distinguished.
After tying back your hair so that it does not fall on your face, take a few drops of water on your palm and pat it on your face. Next put a little amount of foundation on your palm and with your finger-tips, smooth it over your whole face, not forgetting your chin, jaw lines and the area near the hair-line. Apply lesser amount of it on your eye lids and around eyes as the skin there is extra delicate.
After a minute, check to see if there is excessive foundation at any spot. If so, wipe it off with damp cotton. Makeup Foundation is available in many types. They are being explained below.
Lotion Foundation :- It is oily and makes the skin glossy, so it should be used on normal and dry skin. Apply it with the tips of fingers.
Matty foundation :- This is a mixture of foundation and powder as a thick paste. It is effective on oily skin.
How to apply foundation
The best way to apply foundation is to move the tips of fingers upwards and outwards. Put an even coating of it everywhere. It must not show white patches, especially below your eyes. Keep massaging it for a few minutes after which your face will be smooth.
Apply foundation on forehead, nose, cheeks and chin in patches with a brush before you start spreading it with the tips of fingers on the forehead, below the nose, on the cheeks, on the ears and chin and let it dry up. Apply it below the ears and at the jaws too.
If you are using cake foundation apply it with a wet piece of sponge. Take care of few factors while applying foundation.
- Ensure that your face is clean to the base.
- Apply moisturizer, on dry and normal skin. It is like a white cream which hides white patches on the skin. It is a very good base. It is applied with hands.
- Apply a fresh, thin coating of the foundation followed by another, if needed, else one is sufficient.
