Skin Care Tips - Blackheads

For blackheads, steaming and washing with soap is the best remedy.

Tips for Treatment of Blackheads

1. Dried lime flowers added to a pint of boiling water make a nice solution for a facial steam-bath. Steam your face for 10 minutes and your pores will be wide open. Press the skin around the blackheads with cotton wool or a tissue. Then close the pores with an astringent lotion.

2. If some blackheads are stubborn enough not to pop out with an ordinary steam-facial, then take a steam face-bath to which Epsom salts have been added.

3. For more resistant blackheads, pat some almond oil on them and gently squeeze the pores with hot towels. After a steam face-bath, have an Epsom salt steam bath. This treatment will surely loosen the remaining blackheads.

4. Sometimes a solution made of 6 ounces of distilled water with 27 grains of bicarbonate of soda dissolved in it, works wonders, when rubbed on blackheads.

5. For deeply embedded blackheads, after giving your face a steam-bath, dissolve one tablespoon of Epsom salt into one cup of boiling water, which should be kept hot in another vessel of boiling water. Now mix three drops of iodine. Soak a soft towel in this hot solution and put it on the blackheads. Keep on changing and pressing the very hot towels several times. Then press and remove blackheads with a tissue or cotton wool.

6. Milk helps to get rid of blackheads permanently in some cases. Wash your face with warm water and sponge it for fifteen minutes with tepid milk every day.

7. A liquid scrub for blackheads is made with 4 ounces of powdered almonds, 2 ounces of glycerin soap and one ounce of Fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) dissolved in a little water. This solution is to be rubbed on blackheads.

8. A little warmed honey patted on blackheads or on the entire face for fifteen minutes clears the face of blackheads.
